2026 Honor Band, Jazz, Select Choir and Jazz Choir Audition Information

Application/Nomination for choirs is October 31st.
Application Deadline for both bands December 5th.

       *IMPORTANT CHANGES:
         F Horn Audition:  Requirements are the of the 1st movement are measures 34-48 only, and the 2nd movement as indicated.
         Trombone Audition:  Trombones will perform the BASS TROMBONE audition rather than tenor trombone.
​         Euphonium Audition: Requirements are the 2nd movement only.

Additionally, if you have a 2026 CBDA All State audition tape already, simply upload this audition -- no need to re-record or edit existing audio files.



​Select Choir

Select Choir students are selected by their music directors.  Please talk to your teacher. 

Jazz Band

Rhythm Section 
   Bass - 1st/3rd etude (Swing/latin)
   Piano - 1st/3rd etude (Swing/Salsa)
   Drumset - 1st/3rd etude (Swing/Mambo)
   Guitar - 1st/3rd etude (Swing/latin)
Trombones - 1st excerpt only (Swing)
Trumpets - 1st excerpt (First 4 lines only, ending on the whole note E), 3rd excerpt (First 4 lines only, ending on staccato quarter note A)
Saxophones - Full 1st excerpt (Swing)

ALL HORNS should record an improvistion over a 12 bar blues in F, 3 choruses minimum.


Jazz Choir

  1. Chromatic scale - quarter note = 120, a cappella, ascending and descending.
  2. Emily 
    1. Please make sure to use the karaoke version when recording your audition.  It should be heard in the background of your audition.

  3. Ain’t Nobody Here But Us Chickens - sing the part you’re auditioning for, a cappella.  For divisi, continue with that throughout.
  4. Improvisation - 1 to 2 choruses of Blues improvisation. Scat over the chord changes
    1. Please make sure to use a karaoke version/background track when recording your audition.  It should be heard in the background of your audition..  

(These are the simplified requirements of All State Jazz.  Students are encouraged to submit for both!)
