How not to get DISQUALIFIED…
The following are the most common reasons an audition will be DISQUALIFIED while judging for the majority of California Regional/State Honor Groups:
It IS ACCEPTABLE to record the individual aspects of your audition and combine them together into one file. For example, a student can do many takes of one scale, then use the take they feel is the best for their final audition submission. This can easily be done with many softwares, such as Reaper, Audacity, or Garage Band. This is the only type of tampering that is tolerated on our auditions.
What can NOT be done is splice measures together to form a complete excerpt. For instance, I could not record one measure of the Mozart, stop, then another measure, and then combine them. That would be considered cheating.
