Band Student Scholarship--

For forty-nine years, Dr. Royce S. Tevis earned national recognition for quality performances of both high school and university bands under his direction.  Currently he is the Emeritus Director of University Bands at California State University, Chico, where he conducted the Wind Ensemble and the Symphonic Band.  In addition to conducting ensembles, he taught conducting classes, music education and oral musicianship courses.  Dr. Tevis maintained an active schedule as guest conductor, clinician, adjudicator, and consultant of concert bands throughout the United States. With diverse experience demonstrated at all grade levels in the Midwest, South, and West, his conducting and clinician appearances received acclaim from his peers, musicians and audiences.  He has been a guest professor of conducting and instrumental application of the Kodály teaching philosophy for the Organization of American Kodály approved certification programs at McNeese State University, Capital University, University of Central Missouri and Wichita State University.  Royce served on the board of the NorCal Band Directors Association, the CBDA Board, the CBDNA board, the NBA Western Representative, and OAKE board as the instrumental advisor.
